CLINICAL SUPERVISOR*
@ Child and Family Outpatient Services/SE Portland
(Full-time: 32 to 40 hrs/wk)

Position Summary:

Position is responsible for providing clinical administration and management to our mental health services program for emotionally disturbed children and their families.  Duties include clinical supervision of mental heath therapists who provide family, individual and group therapy and case management to clients; providing direct clinical services to clients; and providing consultation on all administrative and clinical aspects of mental health services.

Education/Experience Required:

  1. Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or related field
  2. Minimum of four years direct treatment experience in mental health setting.
  3. Meets QMHP requirements under State of Oregon MHDD Administrative Rules.
  4. Bilingual/Bicultural capabilities in Spanish preferred.
  5. Minimum of three years experience providing clinical supervision and program management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Values working in a multicultural/diverse environment.
  • Must have a good understanding of and ability to use DSM IV Diagnostic Categories.
  • Knowledge of developmental needs of children and adolescents from birth to 18 years of age.
  • Knowledge of individual, family and group treatment strategies, including traditional and non-traditional treatment/service modalities.
  • Ability to establish professional communication in English with clients and service providers both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations in a variety of environments.
  • Ability to effectively handle working in environment serving clients struggling with severe emotional and mental health difficulties.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team-dependent management process and as a team leader.
  • Ability to maintain complete documentation for charting according to OAR and organization requirements.
  • Ability to exercise tact, discretion and judgment in working with others and in handling confidential information.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries in working with others and in handling confidential information.
  • Ability to work independently and seek out supervision as needed.
  • Ability to provide therapeutic physical restraints, as appropriate.
  • Ability to accurately read, record and interpret information, including assessments, measures and diagnostic criteria in order to establish client/service provider strengths and needs.
  • Ability to consistently model mission and purpose of organization, department and team.
  • Ability to supervise in a manner that is respectful of individual differences.
  • Ability to consistently attend and be punctual for scheduled work commitments and meetings and be in a condition suitable for assuming responsibilities of position.

Other Requirements:

  • Personal transportation allowing for travel within the Portland metropolitan area in a timely manner required.  If driving personal vehicle for work purposes must provide copy of valid driver’s license for state of residency, proof of personal auto liability coverage, and have a driving record meeting corporate driving requirements.  If driving personal vehicle for work purposes more than 3 times per week, must maintain personal auto liability coverage in the amount of $100,000/$100,000.
  • Must pass criminal history check.
