EARLY CHILDHOOD MENTAL HEALTH SPECIALIST/QMHP
@ Child and Family Outpatient Services
(30 to 40 hrs/wk)
Position Summary:
Position is responsible for providing outpatient counseling services to emotionally disturbed children (ages birth to 5 years) and their families. Duties include overall responsibilities for treatment planning and implementation and record keeping for each client and family. Services are primarily provided in client’s homes and in early childhood care and education settings.
Education/Experience Required:

Master’s level degree in psychology, social work, counseling or related field and a minimum of two years direct experience in a mental health setting providing therapy to children, adolescents and families.

Early Childhood experience required.

Licensure preferred but not required.

Must be able to meet QMHP requirements under State of
Oregon MHDD Division ’s Administrative rules.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Must value working in a multicultural / diverse environment.

Must have a good understanding of and ability to use DSM IV Diagnostic Categories.

Bilingual / Bicultural capabilities preferred.

Demonstrated knowledge of the developmental needs of children birth to eighteen years old with specialized knowledge of children birth to five years old.

Demonstrated knowledge of individual, family and group treatment strategies.
-
Ability to establish professional communication in English with clients and service providers both orally and in writing.

Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations in a variety of environments.
-
Ability to effectively handle working in an environment serving clients who are struggling with severe emotional and mental health related difficulties.

Ability to maintain complete documentation for charting according to OAR and agency requirements.

Ability to exercise tact, discretion, and judgment in working with a variety of people.

Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries in working with others and in handling confidential information.

Ability to work as a member of a coordinated team effort.
-
Ability to work independently and seek out supervision as needed or required.

Ability to accurately read, record and interpret information, including assessments, measures and diagnostic criteria in order to establish client/service provider strengths and needs.

Ability to regularly attend and be punctual for scheduled work commitments and meetings and be in a condition suitable for assuming responsibilities of position.

Must pass a criminal history background check.

Bloodborne Pathogens training is required on first day of employment.

Availability to work supervisor / program designated evening hours.

Position involves driving which requires a valid driver’s license for the state of residency, personal auto liability insurance ($100,000 required), and a driving record permitting coverage under corporate auto liability policy.

Must pass a criminal history background check.

Availability to work supervisor / program designated evening hours.
